Stretch marks on my pubic area: what should I know?

Stretch marks form when deeper skin structures stretch faster than the skin can adapt. Pubic-area marks may follow puberty, pregnancy, weight change, muscle growth or changes in skin tension. They can begin pink, red, purple or darker than nearby skin and often become paler and softer over time. Their appearance does not reflect poor hygiene, and they are not contagious.

Moisturiser can reduce dryness and itch but will not erase established marks. Avoid harsh rubbing and unprescribed steroid creams.
