What can hyperthyroidism lead to?

Excess thyroid hormone speeds many body processes. It may cause a pounding or irregular heartbeat, sweating, heat intolerance, difficulty sleeping, anxious feelings, loose stools and unplanned weight loss. Over time, ongoing excess can contribute to muscle weakness and reduced bone strength. Heart strain is more concerning when palpitations are persistent or the rhythm is irregular.
