What should you know about hyaluronic acid after laser treatment?

Laser treatment can heat or remove part of the skin surface, depending on the device and purpose. Redness, warmth, dryness, or sensitivity may occur during recovery. A hyaluronic acid product may add water to the surface, but it cannot replace wound care or protect healing skin from irritants.

Read the complete ingredient list: a product marketed with hyaluronic acid may also contain perfume, exfoliating acids, retinoids, or alcohol. A topical product is different from a hyaluronic acid injection and should not be used on an open treatment area unless specifically directed.

Use the laser clinician's written plan, cleanse only as advised, and avoid rubbing, picking, heat, and unapproved active products. If the clinician permits hyaluronic acid, apply a simple formulation gently and keep the area protected with the recommended barrier care.

Use sun protection when the treating team says it is appropriate, because recently treated skin can react to sunlight. Do not cover blistered or open skin with a cosmetic product unless a clinician has advised it.

Contact the treating clinic for increasing pain, spreading redness, marked swelling, blistering, pus, fever, or a wound that is not healing as expected. Get emergency help for breathing difficulty or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
