The operation uses a supportive material to attach the upper vagina or cervix to firm tissue near the sacrum. This lifts and stabilises the prolapsed uterus. Early swelling and soreness can make the pelvis feel unusual, so the first days do not always reflect the eventual result.

A feeling of heaviness, pressure, or a bulge can settle progressively. Recovery differs according to the surgical approach, the extent of prolapse, pelvic-floor muscle function, and whether bladder or bowel symptoms are also present. Those symptoms may need separate assessment if they continue.

Use the discharge plan for pain relief, wound care, walking, lifting, driving, exercise, and vaginal intercourse. Increase activity gradually and avoid straining. Ask how to manage constipation, because repeated pushing can place pressure on healing pelvic tissues.
