How long does ovarian drilling take to work for anovulation?

Ovarian drilling uses keyhole surgery to make small openings in ovarian tissue. In selected people, this can alter hormone signalling and support the return of ovulation when other fertility treatment has not worked or is unsuitable. The response is followed through cycle history, ovulation tests, blood tests, or ultrasound. A period alone does not prove that ovulation occurred, so monitoring matters. The procedure is not a treatment for every cause of anovulation.

Keep a record of bleeding, cycle dates, ovulation-test results, and symptoms after surgery. Attend the fertility appointments used to check whether an egg is being released and to discuss timing of intercourse or further treatment. Follow wound-care and activity instructions while recovering from laparoscopy. Tell the team about medicines, irregular bleeding, or pregnancy plans so the next step can be tailored to your cycle.

Contact your surgical team for fever, worsening abdominal pain, increasing redness or discharge from an incision, heavy bleeding, vomiting, or difficulty passing urine. Seek urgent help for fainting, severe pain, chest pain, or breathing difficulty.
