How long does electrosurgery take to work for warts?

The clinician uses heat to destroy or remove the selected wart tissue. The site may be sore, red, swollen or crusted while it repairs. Warts can have tissue extending below the visible surface, and nearby skin may also carry the virus, so a treated spot is not judged solely by its appearance on the same day. The location, thickness and number of warts affect the recovery plan.

Keep the wound clean and covered as instructed, and wash your hands after touching it. Do not pick the crust or share towels, nail tools or other items that contact the area. Avoid friction and swimming until the clinician confirms the surface is closed. Follow any review plan, particularly if the wart is on a foot, hand or another area exposed to repeated pressure.

Get medical advice if pain or swelling is increasing, pus-like drainage appears, redness spreads, fever develops or bleeding continues despite gentle pressure. Return for assessment if the wart remains after healing, multiplies, or becomes unusually painful. A changing growth may need confirmation rather than another treatment applied automatically.
