How is migraine treated?

Short answer
Migraine is treated with early symptom relief, trigger management, and preventive medicine when attacks are frequent or disabling.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Treatment options
A clinician may recommend a pain-relieving medicine and, when appropriate, a migraine-specific medicine taken early in an attack. Nausea or Vomiting can make tablets difficult to keep down, so another formulation may be considered. Preventive treatment can be discussed when attacks recur often, last a long time, or disrupt work, sleep, or daily activities. The choice depends on your symptoms, other medicines, pregnancy plans, and health history.
Managing an attack
Rest in a quiet, dark room, drink fluids, and take your prescribed rescue medicine as directed. Keep a diary of headache timing, sleep, meals, stress, medicines, and symptoms such as Light Sensitivity or Vertigo. Regular meals, sleep, and hydration may reduce personal triggers. A GP Consultation or Telemedicine Consultation can help create a treatment plan.
When to seek urgent care
Get emergency help for a sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness, trouble speaking, fainting, confusion, fever with a stiff neck, or a new headache after a head injury. Seek prompt advice for a first severe attack, a major change in your usual pattern, persistent vomiting, or symptoms that do not improve as expected.
Questions for your doctor
Ask which medicine to take first, how often it can be used, whether you need prevention, how to handle nausea, and which warning symptoms should change your plan.
