How is asteatotic eczema treated?

This form of eczema develops when very dry skin becomes cracked and inflamed, often on the lower legs, arms or trunk. A clinician may check the pattern, scale and cracks to distinguish it from infection or another rash. Apply a thick, fragrance-free moisturiser generously after bathing and whenever the skin feels tight. Keep showers brief and lukewarm, use a gentle cleanser only where needed, and pat rather than rub dry.
