How effective is post-treatment surveillance for follicular lymphoma?

Follow-up usually includes questions about enlarging lumps, fevers, night sweats, weight change, itching, pain, infections, and energy. The clinician may examine lymph nodes and other areas, review blood tests, and arrange imaging when the findings or treatment history make it useful. This gives the team a consistent way to compare your health across visits.

Follicular lymphoma can have periods of activity and stability, so a surveillance appointment does not automatically mean that treatment is needed. Follow-up cannot predict every change or guarantee a particular course. Your plan reflects your previous therapy, current findings, symptoms, and general health.

Note the location and change of any lump, along with fevers, sweats, itching, infections, pain, appetite, sleep, and stamina. Bring this record and a complete list of medicines to appointments. Ask which blood tests or scans are planned and what result or symptom should lead you to call earlier.

Tell the team about ongoing treatment effects, dental or skin problems, and emotional strain. If a medicine is difficult to take, ask for help with side effects instead of changing it without advice.

Contact your care team promptly for a growing or new lump, persistent fever, drenching night sweats, unexplained weight loss, repeated infections, unusual bleeding, or worsening fatigue. Seek urgent help for severe breathlessness, chest pain, confusion, fainting, or uncontrolled bleeding. These symptoms need evaluation and do not by themselves confirm lymphoma activity.
