How effective is electrosurgery for syringoma?

Syringomas are benign sweat-duct growths, commonly appearing as small, firm bumps around the eyes. Electrosurgery applies controlled heat to the lesion after local numbing. Its success depends on the depth and number of bumps, the surrounding skin, and the clinician’s ability to treat precisely without excessive heat.

The visible bump may become smaller or less noticeable as the area heals. Temporary redness, crusting or colour change can occur, and a scar is possible. Because syringomas can be grouped closely together, treating one area may require staged sessions. New syringomas can also appear later.

Have the bumps assessed before treatment, especially if they are changing, bleeding or not typical of syringoma. Discuss skin tone, previous pigment changes, raised scars, eye-area sensitivity and any medicines that affect healing. Use only the wound care recommended after the procedure and avoid rubbing or peeling treated skin.

Get in touch with the clinic if swelling, pain or redness keeps worsening, or if pus, fever or spreading warmth develops. Eye-area symptoms such as vision changes or severe swelling need prompt medical attention. A persistent or changing bump also deserves reassessment rather than repeated cosmetic treatment.
