Lynch syndrome is an inherited condition that raises the likelihood of certain cancers, including cancers of the colon and rectum. Colonoscopy gives the clinician a direct view of the bowel lining and allows suitable polyps to be removed for laboratory assessment. Finding a polyp does not by itself establish cancer; the tissue result and the broader clinical picture matter.

The examination is most useful when the bowel is well prepared and the full planned area can be inspected. A surveillance plan is tailored to your genetic result, previous findings, family history, and overall health. Colonoscopy addresses the bowel, so it does not replace discussions about other Lynch-associated cancer risks.
