How common are whiteheads in comedonal acne?

Comedonal acne is dominated by blocked follicles rather than deep, tender inflammation. Whiteheads are closed comedones: a mixture of oil and dead skin cells sits beneath a narrow opening, producing a small pale or skin-coloured bump. Texture may feel uneven across the forehead, cheeks, chin, chest, or back. Some follicles remain closed while others open and look darker. Heat, friction, oily products, and hormonal shifts can all make congestion more noticeable, but the pattern differs from person to person.

Cleanse gently without scrubbing, picking, or using rough brushes. Look for non-comedogenic moisturiser and sunscreen, and remove makeup thoroughly at the end of the day.
