Polycystic ovary syndrome can disrupt the hormonal signals that lead to ovulation. Ovulation may happen infrequently or unpredictably, leaving fewer opportunities for an egg to meet sperm. Some people with PCOS ovulate regularly, so fertility experiences vary.
