How common is painful periods in adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. Changes in that wall can make the uterus tender and may intensify contractions during menstruation. Some people also notice pelvic pressure, pain during sex, or an enlarged-feeling abdomen, while others have few symptoms.

The symptom does not identify adenomyosis by itself.
