How common are night sweats in myelofibrosis?

Short answer
Night sweats are a common presentation of myelofibrosis, although the symptom does not by itself diagnose myelofibrosis.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What clinicians consider
Myelofibrosis is a bone marrow condition, and night sweats can be part of its symptom pattern. A clinician may also ask about fatigue, fever, itching, weight change, discomfort or fullness under the left ribs, easy bruising or a feeling of becoming full quickly when eating.
Sweating during sleep also occurs with infections, medicines, menopause, thyroid conditions, alcohol use and other causes. The presence, severity or timing of night sweats cannot identify myelofibrosis without a medical assessment.
Steps you can take
If night sweats are repeated or unexplained, arrange a GP appointment. Write down whether they soak clothing or bedding, any fever or tiredness, changes in appetite or weight, and all medicines and supplements. This helps the clinician decide what examination and tests are needed.
If you already have myelofibrosis, report a new or worsening sweat pattern to your haematology team. It may help them understand how symptoms are affecting you and whether your management needs review.
When to seek care urgently
Contact a clinician promptly for drenching sweats with persistent fever, unusual bleeding or bruising, increasing abdominal discomfort, unexplained weight change or worsening fatigue. Seek emergency care for severe shortness of breath, chest pain, fainting or confusion.
Questions for your appointment
You may ask what may be driving the sweats, whether your blood counts or treatment need review, which symptoms require same-day advice, and what support is available for sleep disruption.

Questions people ask
Do night sweats show that myelofibrosis is getting worse?
Not necessarily. A change deserves discussion with your clinical team because symptoms can have several causes.
What should I record before my appointment?
Note the timing and severity of sweats, associated fever or fatigue, weight or appetite changes, and your current medicines and supplements.
