How common is dizziness in atrial fibrillation?

Atrial fibrillation produces an irregular heartbeat that may feel fast, fluttering, or uneven. Some people notice dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, breathlessness, reduced stamina, or discomfort in the chest; others notice no symptoms. Episodes may come and go or remain present. Take prescribed heart medicines as directed and do not change a blood thinner or rate-control medicine without advice.

Call emergency services for dizziness with chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting, new weakness or numbness, facial drooping, confusion, or trouble speaking. These symptoms can signal a serious heart or circulation problem. Seek prompt assessment for a sustained very fast heartbeat, repeated near-fainting, or symptoms that are getting worse.
