How common are dark patches on skin in ashy dermatosis?

Ashy dermatosis is associated with flat patches that can look grey, blue-grey, or ashy compared with the surrounding skin. They may begin as subtle areas and become more noticeable as they extend or merge. The trunk, arms, and other areas may be involved, and the pattern can differ between people. Colour alone cannot confirm the diagnosis because several inflammatory or pigment conditions can resemble one another. A clinician may examine the border, distribution, surface, and history of any preceding rash.

Use fragrance-free, gentle products and avoid scratching, harsh scrubs, and untested bleaching mixtures. Record when the patches appeared and whether they followed irritation, a rash, or a new product. Arrange a dermatology review for confirmation, especially when the colour is spreading or the pattern is unusual. Bring a list of topical products and medicines to the appointment.
