What should you know about Hori nevus pico laser?

Hori nevus is a form of acquired facial pigmentation, often appearing as multiple brown-to-grey or blue-grey spots on both sides of the face. It can resemble melasma, sun spots, or other causes of dark patches, so visual similarity does not establish the diagnosis. A clinician considers the pattern, depth of pigment, skin tone, medical history, and any recent change before selecting a device.

During consultation, ask whether the pattern fits Hori nevus and whether another cause should be excluded. Pico laser delivers very short pulses that target pigment; the treated area can look darker, red, swollen, or crusted while it settles. Strict broad-spectrum sun protection and gentle skin care help reduce irritation and pigment rebound. Settings and treatment intervals should be individualised, especially for pigment-prone skin. Alternatives may include laser toning or IPL when clinically appropriate.
