Home remedies to get rid of stretch marks

Short answer
Home remedies can moisturise and soothe stretch-marked skin, but they cannot reliably remove the deeper structural changes that create these lines.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why stretch marks appear
Stretch marks form when skin stretches or changes volume faster than its supporting fibres can adapt. They may begin pink, red, purple, or darker than surrounding skin and often become lighter over time. Pregnancy, growth, weight change, muscle gain, and some medicines can be associated with them. They are common and are not a sign that the skin is unclean.
Useful home measures
Apply a bland moisturiser after bathing to reduce dryness and itch, and avoid scratching. Keep weight changes gradual where possible, protect exposed skin from sun, and be cautious with products marketed as erasers. Oils, cocoa butter, vitamin E, and similar home products may soften the surface but do not rebuild altered dermal tissue. If appearance remains a concern, a dermatologist may discuss Microneedling, Fractional Laser Treatment, RF Microneedling, or Carboxytherapy.
When to arrange an assessment
Ask for medical advice if marks appear suddenly without stretching, cover large areas, bruise easily, or occur with unusual weakness or other new symptoms. Discuss any prescription steroid use rather than stopping it yourself. Assessment is also sensible when a rapid body change or a new skin pattern is worrying you.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether the marks fit stretch marks, whether a medicine could contribute, which option suits their colour and age, and what improvement is realistic for your skin tone.

Questions people ask
Does moisturiser prevent stretch marks?
Moisturiser can reduce dryness and improve comfort, but it should not be relied on to prevent or remove stretch marks.
Can treatment improve older stretch marks?
Some procedures may make them less noticeable, although results vary with their age, colour, location, and your skin response.
