Home remedies for stretch marks

Short answer
Home remedies can keep stretch-marked skin comfortable and moisturised, but creams and oils cannot reliably remove established stretch marks or restore stretched skin structure.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What stretch marks are
Stretch marks are lines that form when skin stretches or changes faster than its supporting tissue can adapt. They may begin as red, pink, purple, or darker lines and often fade to lighter, less noticeable marks over time. They can appear on the abdomen, breasts, hips, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, or back. Pregnancy, puberty, muscle growth, weight change, and some medicines can contribute; they are not a sign that the skin is unclean.
Comfort and appearance at home
Use a plain moisturiser after bathing to reduce dryness and itch, and choose gentle, fragrance-free products if the skin is sensitive. Avoid vigorous rubbing, scratching, tanning burns, and unverified bleaching or steroid products. Sun protection can reduce contrast between the marks and surrounding skin, although it does not erase them. Take care with products marketed as cures: cocoa butter, oils, and vitamin preparations may soften the skin but are not dependable removal treatments. If appearance remains distressing, a dermatologist can discuss Microneedling, Fractional Laser Treatment, RF Microneedling, or Carboxytherapy according to skin type and mark maturity.
When to seek care
Arrange an assessment if marks appear suddenly without a clear stretch or growth trigger, become broad and numerous, or occur with easy bruising, muscle weakness, marked facial rounding, or other new symptoms. Ask for advice before using a retinoid-containing product during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Seek review for pain, bleeding, ulceration, or a different-looking lesion rather than assuming it is a stretch mark.
Questions for your doctor
Are these typical stretch marks, and what may have triggered them? Which home products are suitable for my skin? Would a procedure help their colour or texture, and what limitations or downtime should I expect?
