Home remedies for steam burn skin

Short answer
For a fresh steam burn, cool the area under clean, cool running water, remove nearby jewellery or clothing, and cover it loosely without applying household remedies.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Understanding a steam burn
Steam transfers heat quickly and can injure skin even when the contact seems brief. The area may be red, painful, swollen, blistered, or have a Burning Skin sensation. A superficial injury may settle with first aid, while deeper burns can damage sensation and skin structure. Burning after a product exposure may instead reflect Contact Dermatitis; Rosacea or Shingles can also cause burning sensations but need different assessment.
First aid at home
Move away from the steam source. Cool the burn with clean, cool running water as soon as possible; do not use ice. Remove rings, watches, and loose clothing near the injury before swelling develops, but do not pull away fabric stuck to skin. Do not burst blisters or apply butter, oil, toothpaste, flour, alcohol, or adhesive dressings. After cooling, cover loosely with a sterile non-stick dressing or clean film and keep the person warm overall. Pain relief may be discussed with a pharmacist if suitable for you.
When to seek urgent care
Get emergency help for breathing difficulty or burns to the face, mouth, neck, hands, feet, genitals, or a major joint. Seek prompt assessment for a large area, deep white or charred skin, severe pain, numbness, extensive blistering, or a burn in a young child or frail adult. Medical review is also needed if redness, warmth, swelling, pus, fever, or worsening pain develops. A stripe-like blistering rash with burning pain is not typical simple scalding and may require evaluation for Shingles.
Questions for your doctor
How deep does this burn appear to be? What dressing should I use, and how often should it be changed? Which signs of infection or delayed healing should I watch for?
