Short answer
For mild nausea and vomiting, take small sips of fluid, rest, and restart bland foods gradually when able.

Why nausea and vomiting happen
Vomiting is the body's forceful emptying of stomach contents and may occur with Gastroenteritis, Food Poisoning, migraine, medication effects, or travel-related illness. Gallstones, Pancreatitis, and other conditions can cause vomiting with characteristic pain or other symptoms.
Repeated vomiting can lead to dehydration and disturb the body's salts. The amount, colour, and contents of vomit matter: blood, coffee-ground material, or green fluid should not be managed with home remedies alone.
What you can try
After vomiting, pause briefly, then take tiny sips of water or an oral rehydration drink at frequent intervals. If this stays down, slowly increase the amount. Rest on your side or sit upright, especially if you feel likely to vomit again.
When nausea eases, try small amounts of plain food such as toast, rice, crackers, or soup. Avoid alcohol, greasy food, strong smells, and large drinks with meals. Do not give anti-sickness medicines to a child or combine remedies without advice from a pharmacist or clinician.
When to seek medical help
Get medical advice when vomiting continues, you cannot keep fluids down, urine becomes very reduced, or symptoms keep returning. Arrange prompt assessment for vomiting with severe abdominal pain, a persistent headache, fever, or a new rash.
Seek urgent care for blood or green vomit, severe dehydration, fainting, confusion, stiff neck, chest pain, a swollen or rigid abdomen, or sudden severe pain. These signs can occur with conditions such as Meningitis or Pancreatitis and need prompt evaluation.
What to ask a clinician
Ask which fluids are suitable, whether a medicine or migraine could be contributing, when to restart regular medicines, and which warning signs matter most for your age and health conditions.
