What should you know about hiccups and burping a lot?

Short answer
Hiccups and frequent burping often come from swallowed air, eating quickly, fizzy drinks, or irritation from reflux, but persistent or severe symptoms need medical assessment.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What the combination can mean
A hiccup is an involuntary spasm of the diaphragm followed by a brief closure of the voice box. Burping releases air from the stomach. Both can increase after fast meals, chewing gum, smoking, drinking through a straw, or carbonated drinks. Reflux can irritate the food pipe and trigger hiccups or repeated belching; see Acid Reflux for related symptoms. Stomach lining irritation, including Gastritis, can also cause upper-abdominal discomfort, nausea, or belching. These symptoms alone do not identify one diagnosis.
What you can try
Eat slowly, take smaller mouthfuls, and pause between bites. Choose still drinks for a while and avoid habits that make you swallow air. Notice whether large meals, spicy or fatty foods, alcohol, or lying down soon after eating worsen symptoms. Sit upright after meals and keep a simple record of timing, triggers, pain, nausea, and bowel changes. A pharmacist or clinician can explain whether Acid Reflux Medication is suitable, especially if symptoms keep returning or you take other medicines.
When to seek care
Arrange medical advice if hiccups keep returning, last unusually long, or interfere with sleep, eating, or drinking. Seek urgent care for severe chest or abdominal pain, trouble breathing, repeated vomiting, vomiting blood, black stools, difficulty swallowing, confusion, or fainting. A clinician may review medicines, examine your abdomen, and decide whether testing is needed.
Questions for your doctor
Ask what might be triggering the symptoms, whether reflux or stomach irritation fits the pattern, which medicines could contribute, and what changes should prompt a follow-up.
