Heat rash around the eyes

The eyelids and skin beside the eyes are thin and easily irritated. Sweat can collect around the brow, eyelid crease, or under-eye area, while sunscreen, makeup, hair products, and rubbing can add exposure. Heat rash may look like fine bumps or a prickly patch, but [Skin Rash](/symptoms/skin-rash/) and [Skin Redness](/symptoms/skin-redness/) around the eyes have many possible causes.

Symptoms involving the eye itself are different from a surface skin rash. Pain in the eye, light sensitivity, vision change, marked discharge, or swelling that affects opening the eye should not be managed as simple heat rash.

Move into a cool environment and gently rinse away sweat with clean water. Pat dry, avoid rubbing, and pause makeup, fragranced products, and new skincare until the skin is calm. A cool clean compress over closed eyes can soothe discomfort; do not place ice directly on the skin or put household remedies into the eyes.

Avoid using steroid creams or other medicines near the eyelids unless a clinician has specifically recommended the product and duration. Thick products may trap heat or migrate into the eye. Arrange medical advice for persistent, recurrent, painful, crusted, or weeping eyelid skin, or for swelling that does not settle after cooling. These signs can indicate an eye problem or a significant allergic reaction rather than uncomplicated heat rash.
