Headache on the top right side of the head

Migraine commonly stays on one side and may bring pulsing pain, nausea, or sensitivity to light and sound. Tension in the neck, scalp, or jaw can feel more prominent on the right when posture, clenching, or an awkward sleeping position affects that side. Nasal congestion, facial pressure, or a cough may occur with Allergic Rhinitis, Chronic Sinusitis, or a Common Cold. Screen use and vision strain can also be felt around one temple or behind an eye. Notice whether movement, meals, sleep, heat, fluids, or stress change the pain; the side is only one part of the clinical picture.

Rest in a calm, dim environment and pause close screen work. Drink fluids, eat a missed meal, and gently relax the right shoulder, neck, and jaw without force. Record onset, duration, severity, associated symptoms, possible triggers, and any treatment used. If you choose an over-the-counter pain medicine, follow its label and ask a pharmacist about pregnancy, allergies, stomach or kidney problems, liver disease, blood thinners, and other medicines. Avoid driving if pain or visual symptoms impair concentration.

Call emergency services for sudden extreme pain, new weakness or numbness, facial drooping, trouble speaking, confusion, fainting, seizure, loss of vision, a stiff neck with fever, or repeated vomiting. Obtain urgent assessment for a headache after injury, severe eye pain with a red eye, or headache with marked illness after heat exposure. Arrange a medical review if the right-sided pattern is new, keeps recurring, becomes more intense, or changes from your usual headaches.

Ask whether the pattern fits migraine, tension headache, sinus irritation, or eye strain; whether your medicines or blood pressure need review; and what personal warning signs should prompt urgent care.
