Headache in the middle of the forehead

Pain in this area may feel like pressure across the brow or a tight band. A blocked or runny nose, facial pressure, reduced smell or pain that changes when bending forward can occur with nasal or sinus inflammation. Stress, poor sleep, prolonged screen use, skipped meals and not drinking enough can also contribute.

The location does not identify one diagnosis. Note whether the pain is throbbing, pressing or stabbing, how suddenly it began, and whether light, sound, nausea, fever, vision change or neck stiffness accompany it.

Pause close-up screen work, relax your jaw and shoulders, eat if you have missed a meal, and sip water. A quiet, dim room may help if light worsens the pain. Follow the label for any medicine you normally tolerate, and avoid taking pain medicines repeatedly without medical guidance. Arrange a review if headaches recur, change pattern or interfere with daily activities.

Get emergency help for a sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness, trouble speaking, confusion, fainting, seizure, persistent vomiting, fever with a stiff neck, or a new headache after a head injury. Urgent assessment is also needed for new vision loss or severe eye pain.
