What should you know about a hard bump on the penile shaft under the skin?

A bump may involve a blocked follicle on hair-bearing skin, an irritated pore, a small cyst, or a normal anatomical feature that has become newly noticeable. Folliculitis often causes tenderness or redness around a hair. A lesion with a rough surface, open sore, discharge, or clustered appearance needs an in-person assessment because several conditions can look alike.
