Footprint Ultra PK suture anchor 4.5: what to know

During some orthopaedic repairs, the surgeon places an anchor in bone and passes its attached sutures through the tissue being repaired. The sutures hold the tissue in its intended position while the body heals. The exact device choice depends on the tendon, labrum, or other structure, the quality of the bone, and the repair technique. The anchor itself does not replace rehabilitation or guarantee that a repair will heal. It may be used in procedures such as Rotator Cuff Repair, Labral Repair, or other soft-tissue repairs.

Follow the surgeon's instructions about sling or brace use, wound care, sleeping position, and permitted movement. Protect the repair from lifting, pushing, or weight-bearing until the team advances you. Attend rehabilitation appointments and use only the exercises prescribed for the current healing stage. Keep the incision clean and report changes rather than adjusting the programme alone. The anchor is an internal part of the repair; you usually cannot judge healing by how it feels from the outside.

Contact the surgical team promptly for increasing redness, drainage, fever, worsening swelling, new numbness, or pain that is not controlled by the prescribed plan. Seek urgent care for sudden loss of movement, a cold or discoloured limb, severe shortness of breath, or chest pain. A fall or forceful movement affecting the repaired area should be reported even if symptoms settle.

Ask what tissue was repaired, where the anchor was placed, and which movements could stress the repair. Ask when driving, work, lifting, and sport may resume, how rehabilitation will progress, and what signs suggest infection or repair failure.
