What should you know about fever degree?

Short answer
A fever is a raised body temperature that can signal the immune system is responding to an illness, but the reading alone does not identify its cause.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What a fever degree tells you
Temperature changes naturally during the day and can vary with age, activity, clothing, room temperature, and the measuring site. A mouth, ear, forehead, or armpit reading may not be directly interchangeable. Record the number, method, time, and other symptoms so a clinician can interpret the pattern.
Fever may occur with respiratory infections such as Common Cold or COVID-19, and with illnesses that cause cough, rash, or breathing symptoms. A number cannot distinguish a viral illness from another cause, and a normal reading does not rule out illness if you feel unwell.
What you can do at home
Rest, drink fluids regularly, and choose light clothing. Follow the label or a clinician’s advice if using a fever-reducing medicine; check ingredients to avoid taking duplicate products. Use a reliable thermometer in the same way each time, and avoid very cold baths, ice, or rubbing alcohol on the skin.
Keep notes about the temperature trend, urine output, alertness, pain, cough, vomiting, diarrhoea, or rash. This information is especially useful if symptoms change after travel, a new medicine, or contact with someone who is ill.
When to seek medical care
Seek urgent help for trouble breathing, severe confusion, fainting, a seizure, a stiff neck with severe headache, blue or grey lips, or a rapidly spreading rash. Prompt medical assessment is also sensible when fever is persistent, repeatedly returns, or occurs with dehydration, severe pain, or marked drowsiness.
For an infant, an older adult, pregnancy, or a person with reduced immunity or a serious long-term condition, contact a healthcare professional sooner because illness can become significant with less warning.
Questions for your doctor
Which thermometer and measuring site should I use? What symptoms would change the urgency? Could any current medicine, recent travel, or existing condition affect the reading?

Questions people ask
Does a higher reading reveal the exact infection?
No. Temperature is one part of the assessment; symptoms, examination, and sometimes testing help identify the cause.
Can the measuring site change the result?
Yes. Readings from the ear, mouth, forehead, and armpit can differ, so use one method consistently and report it.
