What should you know about faint forehead lines?

Short answer
Faint forehead lines are common early creases that can be softened with daily skin care and tailored treatments.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What faint forehead lines can mean
These lines often appear when you raise your eyebrows, frown or concentrate, then become easier to see while the face is relaxed. Repeated movement gradually folds the skin in the same place. Sun exposure can reduce skin support, while dryness can make fine texture look sharper. Faint lines do not by themselves indicate an illness.
Look at whether the lines change with expression, whether the skin is rough or irritated, and whether a new spot, rash or persistent pain is present. A clinician can distinguish ordinary expression lines from another skin concern during an examination.
What you can do
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen on the forehead each day and reapply when you are outdoors. A gentle cleanser and a moisturiser can reduce dryness-related emphasis. Avoid scrubbing, picking and products that sting. Introduce any retinoid-containing product gradually only after checking that it suits your skin, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or prone to irritation.
If movement-related lines bother you, a qualified clinician may discuss botulinum toxin injection, which temporarily reduces activity in selected forehead muscles. [Wrinkles](/symptoms/wrinkles/) explains the broader symptom, while [Botox](/treatments/injectables/botulinum-toxin-injection/) covers that treatment option.
When to seek care
Arrange a skin assessment if a forehead change appears suddenly, becomes scaly, bleeds, crusts, itches persistently or does not heal. Seek prompt care for marked swelling, spreading redness, severe pain or vision symptoms. These warning signs are separate from ordinary faint expression lines.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether the lines are mainly caused by expression, dryness or sun-related change; which sunscreen and moisturiser fit your skin; whether a retinoid is appropriate; and what benefits, limitations and temporary effects to expect from an injectable treatment.
