Excessive sweating during your period

Short answer
Sweating can increase around a period as hormone levels shift, but persistent, severe or newly changed sweating should be assessed for other causes.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why timing matters
Some people notice warmth, flushing or more perspiration before bleeding starts or during the first days of a period. Cramps, poor sleep, stress and a warm environment can add to the sensation. A pattern that appears only around menstruation and settles afterward may point toward a cycle-related trigger, while sweating at other times may have a different explanation. Record the cycle day, body areas, medicines and associated symptoms so the pattern is clear.
Ways to stay comfortable
Wear light, breathable layers and keep a spare top available if dampness interferes with work or sleep. Drink fluids regularly, rest in a cooler room, and use a gentle antiperspirant on dry skin where appropriate. Avoid changing prescribed hormonal medicines without advice. A diary across several cycles can show whether sweating follows a predictable pattern. If it remains troublesome, a clinician can review menstrual symptoms, thyroid symptoms, glucose-related symptoms and possible treatment choices.
When to get medical advice
Book a review if the change is new, continues between periods, soaks sleepwear, or comes with palpitations, tremor, unexplained weight change or dizziness. Get urgent help for sweating with fainting, confusion, chest discomfort, severe weakness or suspected heat illness. See Excessive Sweating for broader symptom guidance.
Useful questions
Does my timing suggest a cycle-related trigger? Could my contraception, other medicine or thyroid function be involved? What treatment is suitable if antiperspirant and cooling measures are not enough?

Questions people ask
Is sweating during a period always a problem?
Not necessarily; a predictable, mild pattern may accompany hormonal changes, but a new or disruptive pattern merits review.
What if sweating happens at night?
Note whether it occurs only around your period; repeated night sweating or other symptoms should be discussed with a clinician.
