Medicine absorbed under the tongue can act quickly, but the correct choice depends on the cause of the reading, your symptoms, other medicines, and kidney and heart function. A rapid fall can reduce blood flow and cause dizziness, fainting, or injury. Clinicians first repeat the reading and look for organ damage rather than treating a number in isolation.
