What should you know about ellgy corn and warts?

A common wart may have a rough surface and can appear on the hands, fingers, feet, or around the nails. Plantar warts on the sole may be pressed inward and show tiny dark dots. A corn usually forms on a pressure point such as a toe or the ball of the foot; it often feels hard and tender when squeezed. A clinician can distinguish them from calluses and other growths by examining the skin.

Avoid picking, cutting, or sharing files, towels, and footwear if a wart is possible. Keep feet dry, choose shoes with enough room, and reduce rubbing with suitable socks or padding. Depending on the site and diagnosis, treatment may include prescription imiquimod, freezing with cryotherapy, electrosurgery, or a procedure focused on wart removal. Corns often improve when the source of pressure is corrected.

Arrange a skin assessment if a lesion bleeds, changes quickly, becomes very painful, returns after treatment, or is difficult to identify. Seek earlier advice for a growth near the eye or nail, or if you have diabetes, reduced foot sensation, poor circulation, or a weakened immune system.
