What should you know about Edan pulse oximeter?

The device uses light passing through tissue to estimate oxygen saturation and detects the pulse at the same time. A reading is one piece of information, not a diagnosis. Cold fingers, movement, nail products, poor circulation, an incorrect fit, or a weak signal can make the display unreliable.

Look at the number together with the pulse symbol, signal quality if shown, and how you feel. A person can be seriously unwell even when a device reading appears reassuring, and a single unexpected result deserves a careful repeat rather than instant interpretation.

Sit quietly, warm your hand, remove anything that obscures the sensor, and place the device as directed. Keep the finger still while the display settles, then record the result with the time and your symptoms. Clean the sensor according to its instructions and do not share it without cleaning.

Use the same finger and a consistent position when monitoring at home. If readings repeatedly differ from your usual pattern, contact a clinician for advice rather than changing treatment yourself.

Get urgent medical help for severe or worsening breathlessness, blue or grey lips, confusion, fainting, inability to speak normally because of breathing difficulty, or sudden chest pain. Do not rely on the oximeter alone or wait for a repeat reading when symptoms are severe.
