Rabies vaccination is time-sensitive protection after a possible exposure. A vaccine visit does not replace wound cleaning or any other treatment your clinician has arranged. Do not assume that feeling well means the course is complete. Protection depends on receiving every advised dose at the planned interval, and some exposures require additional treatment. Keep the wound covered as advised and avoid rubbing or tightly pressing the injection area.

Keep your vaccination record and confirm the date of the next appointment before leaving. Use a cool compress for soreness, rest if you feel unwell, and drink fluids. Contact the treating service promptly if the wound becomes increasingly red, hot, swollen, painful, or produces discharge, or if you develop a persistent fever.
