Does thread lift treat jowls?

Jowls are fullness or looseness along the lower cheeks and jawline. Their appearance can reflect skin laxity, changes in facial fat, bone structure, or a combination of factors. Threads placed beneath the skin may give selected tissue a small upward support and can create a more defined contour while swelling settles.

The effect depends on the amount of laxity, skin quality, tissue weight, facial movement, and the provider's technique. More pronounced loose skin may need a different discussion, because threads do not cut away excess skin.

Have the jawline examined in person and describe whether your priority is lifting, reducing fullness, improving skin texture, or defining the chin. Ask about non-thread options and whether combining treatments could change the risk or recovery plan. Tell the provider about medicines, allergies, previous fillers or surgery, and active dental or skin problems.

After treatment, follow instructions about sleeping position, facial movement, exercise, and cleansing. Bruising, swelling, soreness, tightness, or temporary asymmetry can occur during recovery.

Report increasing pain, redness, warmth, drainage, fever, new facial weakness, severe asymmetry, skin puckering that does not settle, or visible thread material. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty or rapidly worsening swelling.
