Does pancreatitis cause nausea?

Inflammation in the pancreas can disturb nearby digestive organs and the normal handling of food, creating a sick or unsettled feeling. Pain itself can intensify nausea, and some people also develop vomiting, bloating, or reduced appetite. Nausea is not specific to pancreatitis: infections, medicines, gallbladder disease, pregnancy, and other digestive conditions can cause it too. Get urgent medical help if nausea comes with severe or continuing upper abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, fever, yellowing of the eyes, fainting, confusion, or difficulty breathing. Contact a clinician promptly if you cannot keep fluids down, are passing very little urine, or feel increasingly weak. These features can reflect dehydration or a more serious abdominal problem and should not be managed at home alone.
