Does nebuliser treatment help with cough?

A nebuliser turns liquid medicine into a mist that can be breathed through a mask or mouthpiece. It may be used when a person has wheezing, airway narrowing, or difficulty using an inhaler effectively. The benefit comes from the medicine inside the device, not from the mist alone. A cough from a simple throat irritation, reflux, or infection may need a different approach, and an unsupervised nebuliser is not a substitute for diagnosis.

Use only the medicine and dose prescribed for you, and follow the device instructions for cleaning and storage. Sit upright and breathe steadily during treatment. Do not share masks or mouthpieces.
