Does lymphoma cause night sweats?

Night sweats that soak sleepwear or bedding are different from feeling warm after heavy blankets or a hot room. Lymphoma may also occur with swollen lymph nodes, fever, persistent tiredness, itching, or unexplained weight loss. Night sweating alone cannot identify lymphoma; infections, menopause, anxiety, alcohol, thyroid problems, and some medicines may have the same effect.

A clinician will ask about the pattern, other symptoms, medicines, travel, and general health. Examination and blood tests may be followed by further testing if findings suggest it.

Book an appointment if drenching sweats recur, disturb sleep, or occur with fever, swollen glands, unusual tiredness, or weight change. Keep a brief record of when sweating happens, your temperature if measured, recent illnesses, and all medicines or supplements. Do not stop prescribed treatment without advice.

Seek urgent help for night sweats with severe weakness, confusion, difficulty breathing, fainting, a rapidly enlarging swelling, or a high fever with a very unwell appearance. Prompt assessment is also sensible if you have a weakened immune system.
