Does loop excision of the cervix treat cervical dysplasia?

Loop excision uses a thin heated wire to remove abnormal cervical tissue. The removed tissue is sent for laboratory examination, which helps confirm the extent and type of cell change and whether the edges of the removed area are clear. The procedure is usually performed through the vagina, with local anaesthetic in many settings. Your clinician will explain the findings and whether further monitoring or treatment is needed.
