Does hormonal coil treat endometriosis?

Endometriosis is tissue similar to the womb lining growing outside the uterus. A hormonal coil releases progestogen mainly inside the uterus and can make periods lighter. By changing the menstrual cycle and reducing bleeding, it may lessen cramps and some endometriosis-related pain. It does not directly remove deposits outside the uterus, so pain involving the bowel, bladder, ovaries, or deeper pelvic tissues may need additional assessment and treatment.

Response varies. Some people have spotting or irregular bleeding after insertion, especially early on. A clinician can discuss whether the coil fits your symptoms, anatomy, contraceptive needs, and pregnancy plans.
