Short answer

Dizziness is a common presentation of Heat Exhaustion, which can develop when heat and sweating reduce circulating fluid.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

At a glance

Common setting
Heat exposure with sweating and physical exertion.
Other symptoms
Thirst, weakness, headache, nausea, or dark urine may accompany it.
First response
Stop, cool down, lie or sit safely, and sip fluids if able.

Why heat can make you dizzy

Heat exhaustion may cause lightheadedness, unsteadiness, or a feeling that you might faint. Sweating lowers fluid levels, while heat widens blood vessels near the skin so the body can release warmth. Together, these changes can reduce blood flow to the brain for a moment, especially after standing or exerting yourself. Headache, thirst, weakness, nausea, heavy sweating, and dark urine may occur as well.

Dizziness has many possible causes, including low blood sugar, an inner-ear problem, medicines, infection, or heart and circulation conditions. The timing of symptoms and exposure to heat help guide assessment, but dizziness alone cannot establish the cause.

What to do when it starts

Stop activity and sit or lie down in a cool place. Loosen extra clothing, cool the skin with a fan or damp cloth, and take small sips of a suitable drink if you are alert and not vomiting. Stand slowly only after you feel steady. Avoid driving, climbing, or returning to exertion until the dizziness has resolved. If it keeps happening, arrange a clinical review.

When dizziness is urgent

Call for urgent help if dizziness comes with confusion, fainting, a seizure, severe headache, chest pain, trouble breathing, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, or repeated vomiting. Very hot skin, worsening weakness, or inability to drink after heat exposure also requires prompt care because heat illness can become dangerous.

What to ask

Ask whether the episode fits heat exhaustion, how to replace fluids safely, when you may resume exercise, and whether blood pressure, glucose, or other checks are appropriate. Describe whether the room spun, you felt faint, or your balance changed, and list any medicines you take.
