Does electrosurgery treat syringoma?

Syringomas are small, firm bumps linked to sweat ducts. They often appear in groups around the lower eyelids, although other sites can be affected. Electrosurgery targets the bump with heat, and the clinician chooses the energy and depth carefully because syringomas can sit close to delicate skin structures.

Treatment may improve individual bumps without changing every nearby lesion. The area can be swollen, red, crusted, or temporarily lighter or darker afterward. Recurrence or development of additional syringomas is possible, so the aim and expected appearance should be discussed before treatment.

Book an assessment with a clinician experienced in treating small lesions near the eyes. Bring up any history of keloid scarring, pigment changes, cold sores near the treatment area, or eye conditions. Do not squeeze syringomas, since pressure will not remove the deeper tissue and can irritate the skin.

Follow the clinic's instructions for cleansing and protecting the area. Avoid rubbing treated eyelid skin and pause irritating cosmetics until the surface has healed as advised. Use sun protection around the area after healing to limit persistent colour change.

Ask for an examination if eyelid bumps are new, one-sided, rapidly changing, painful, or associated with vision symptoms, because not every small bump is a syringoma. After treatment, contact the clinic for worsening swelling near the eye, vision change, pus, fever, or pain that escalates.

Ask whether the bumps need confirmation before treatment, how close they are to the eyelid margin, whether staged treatment is safer, what pigment or texture change may occur, and how recurrence would be managed.
