Does combined pill treat ovarian cysts?

Many ovarian cysts are linked with the normal cycle and may resolve without treatment. The combined pill prevents ovulation while it is being used, so it can lower the chance of certain new functional cysts. It does not dissolve a cyst that is already present, and it is not a treatment for every cyst type. Ultrasound appearance, size, symptoms, and whether the cyst changes over time guide follow-up.
