Does chronic disease review treat asthma?

The appointment is designed to understand how asthma affects you between attacks and whether your current plan is working. A clinician may discuss daytime symptoms, night waking, activity limits, reliever use, inhaler technique and exposure to smoke or other triggers. They can review preventer treatment, update written instructions and decide whether another assessment is needed. The review supports ongoing management; it does not replace urgent care during a severe attack.

Bring your inhalers or a current medicine list and describe missed doses, side effects, recent flare-ups and symptoms during exercise or sleep. Ask the clinician to watch your inhaler technique, because small steps can affect how much medicine reaches the airways. Keep the agreed action plan accessible and use medicines exactly as prescribed. Do not stop a preventer without discussing it with a clinician.

Contact a clinician if symptoms are becoming more frequent, waking you at night, limiting normal activity or needing your reliever more often than advised. Seek emergency help if breathing is severely difficult, speaking is hard because of breathlessness, or your reliever is not helping as instructed.
