Does cervical spondylosis cause arm numbness and tingling?

Cervical spondylosis describes age-related changes in the bones, discs, and joints of the neck. These changes may narrow the space around a nerve root or make nearby tissues sensitive. The resulting sensation can include pins and needles, reduced feeling, burning, or an altered sense of temperature in part of the arm or hand. The exact area depends on the nerve involved. Write down which fingers or areas feel different, whether symptoms are constant, and what neck or arm positions bring them on. Change posture regularly and keep movement gentle rather than holding the neck rigid. Avoid leaning on the elbow or keeping the wrist bent for long periods while the source is uncertain. A clinician can assess sensation, strength, reflexes, and neck movement and decide whether treatment or further testing is appropriate.

Arrange prompt care for spreading numbness, new weakness, clumsy hands, or symptoms that interfere with walking or daily tasks. Seek urgent help for sudden one-sided numbness, facial drooping, speech trouble, severe headache, or symptoms after a major injury. Also seek urgent assessment for new bladder or bowel control problems with neck or back symptoms, because these can signal serious nervous-system involvement.
