Does urogynaecology perform urodynamic testing?

Urodynamic testing measures bladder pressure, urine flow and how the bladder responds as it fills and empties. It can help clarify symptoms such as leakage, urgency, frequent urination, weak flow or difficulty emptying. The test may involve small tubes and sensors, and the clinic explains each step before it begins.

Results are interpreted alongside your symptoms, examination and urine tests. Testing is not needed for every urinary complaint, so the specialist will explain what question the test is intended to answer and how the result could change treatment.

Follow the clinic's instructions about arriving with a comfortably full bladder, medicines and any urine sample. Tell the team if you may be pregnant, have urinary symptoms, use a catheter or have difficulty with catheter insertion. During the test, describe pressure, urgency and discomfort clearly. Afterward, follow advice about fluids and watch for symptoms that do not settle.

Contact the testing service if you develop fever, chills, worsening pain, persistent heavy blood in the urine, or increasing difficulty passing urine after the test. Urgent medical care is needed for severe pain, inability to urinate with bladder discomfort, or signs of a serious infection such as confusion or marked weakness.
