Liposuction, also called lipoplasty or fat removal surgery, removes localised fat through small openings using a suction device. After liposuction, call the surgical team for worsening pain, rapidly increasing swelling, fever, spreading redness, pus, wound separation or one-sided leg swelling. Seek emergency help for sudden breathlessness, chest pain, coughing blood, fainting or new confusion. If you become unwell before the operation, tell the clinic rather than arriving without advice.
