Does a dermatologic surgery perform earlobe repair?

Earlobe repair is a small reconstructive procedure for tissue that has split, elongated around a piercing or changed after an injury. The surgeon examines the tear, the remaining tissue and the position of the piercing. Local anaesthetic is used to numb the earlobe while damaged edges are refreshed and brought together with fine stitches. The aim is to restore a stable earlobe shape; the final appearance depends on the amount of tissue involved and how it heals.

Bring details about when the tear happened, whether jewellery is still present and any history of thick or raised scars. Avoid putting pressure on the earlobe and do not re-pierce it before the wound has healed. Keep the site clean and dry as instructed after treatment, protect it from pulling and attend the planned wound check. Ask when earrings or other ear jewellery can safely be worn again.
