PRP treatment involves taking a small sample of your blood, preparing the platelet-rich portion, and placing it into selected scalp areas. A referral is not the same as the medical assessment needed to decide whether this approach fits your pattern of hair loss.

The clinician may ask when shedding began, whether it is sudden or gradual, what medicines you use, and whether you have scalp symptoms. Hair loss can have several causes, and treatment should not replace evaluation of a new or unexplained change.

Ask the clinic whether direct booking is available, who will assess you, and whether any referral or recent test results are required. Prepare a list of medicines and supplements, relevant illnesses, previous hair treatments, and a description of how your hair has changed. Do not stop prescribed medicines unless your clinician tells you to.

During consultation, discuss whether PRP is appropriate, what preparation is needed, how the scalp will be cared for afterward, and which alternatives may address the suspected cause more directly.

Seek assessment before an elective injection if hair loss is sudden, patchy, accompanied by scalp pain or pus, or associated with marked scaling, sores, or inflammation. Also mention fatigue, unexplained weight change, or other new symptoms, because the scalp finding may need broader medical review.
